Support for People Living with Loss (Article)

Losing someone to suicide is a devastating experience that can leave those left behind struggling in a state of shock and confusion. The sudden and profound absence of a loved one creates an emotional response that is difficult to comprehend. Questions of guilt, responsibility, and the relentless search for signs or reasons can amplify the confusion, making it challenging to make sense of the tragedy. For many, knowing what feelings or thoughts are "normal" or how to cope can be a struggle. The Canadian Association for Suicide Prevention's article, Support for People Living with Loss, provides information on the emotions, thoughts, and reactions that are often experienced in response to a suicide loss. It also shares a few important strategies to help individuals living with suicide grief.
